Monkton was founded in 2016 by a team with a bias for action who wanted to prove that you didn’t need to compromise on user-friendly, mobile-first systems in order to conform with strict security criteria.
Our mission was simple: to change what is possible through secure Edge Computing with thoughtful and deliberate technology and design. We're constantly asking ourselves how we can raise expectations and deliver transformative solutions that make a greater impact—and that begins with reimagining everything a company and industry can be.

Harold Smith III, CEO and Co-Founder
Harold’s experience in the federal space spans over 13 years, from architecture and design to the implementation of enterprise systems at the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Department of State. He advised on and built the first series of fully authorized and cloud-connected mobile apps for the Department of Defense.
Previously, Harold created and sold two other companies: RxmindMe, acquired by Walgreens in 2011; and in 2012, Fixmo, an NSA CRADA company, acquired Harold’s second mobile security startup.
