How Monkton Builds Targeted, Secure Solutions with Future Agility
Monkton is meeting challenges with custom, future-proof solutions and redefines how customers interact with technology
What you’re building isn’t as important as why you’re building it.
As leaders in Edge-Based mobility, we bring computation closer to where data is generated. Monkton leans into an agile mindset to figure out the core challenge for each mission and meet that challenge with a custom, future-proof solution. Our products accelerate change—not only for mission success, but for end users who depend on user-friendly solutions.
Below you’ll find a few of Monkton’s targeted, cost-effective solutions that better connect government personnel by leveraging mobile technology tools we all use in our day-to-day lives.
Recruitment for The Digital Age
Challenge: Efficiently process high volumes of applicant data
Solution: A modern recruitment web app that accelerates the application process
It’s well known the government has disparate systems that make internal communication difficult. During the recruitment process for various government roles, different types or formats of data that reside in separate systems and databases yield inflexible, time-consuming processes.
From applicant to recruiter to commanding officers, big-picture statistics are critical to refine recruitment processes. With Monkton’s Cloud Based Edge Capable (CBEC) approach at the onset of every project, building for future Edge-based capabilities means there is no time wasted and no extra funds spent building one-off solutions. Future-proofing the recruitment process allows the government to process a high volume of data ingestion, improve recruit communication, and increase application processing—most importantly, at the Edge precisely when needed.
Modernizing Healthcare with a Clinician-Centric Approach
Challenge: Eliminate outdated paper trails and cumbersome workflows
Solution: A mobile app that streamlines clinicians' charge recordings, reduces inefficiencies, and optimizes patient encounters
Clinician burnout is causing more and more healthcare employees to leave the industry. Labor-intensive, paper-based processes, charge recordings, and less time with patients are all contributing factors.
To combat these concerns, Monkton developed a cloud-base mobile app that streamlines charge recordings, helps reduce inefficiencies, saves significant time, and enhances financial outcomes. The app also helps optimize patient encounters as clinicians can spend less time on paperwork and more time with patients.
We embrace the challenge of digitizing healthcare workflows while helping clinicians get reimbursed faster. We’re equally excited about setting new healthcare security standards by leveraging our past and current expertise with the DoD.
Synchronized Maintenance for All
Challenge: Increase time on task and decrease time wasted on manual processes
Solution: An Edge-based iOS mobile app for combat aircraft maintainers to perform their job directly on the flight line
Air Force maintainers used to spend upwards of two hours a day stopping at various flight line intervals and walking to a networked computer to log progress. Cumulatively, this inefficient process cost the service $153 million annually, equating to 2,700 full-time working hours. Not only was this failing the Air Force maintainers, it was significantly decreasing mission readiness.
To solve this problem, Monkton built and delivered BRICE, a revolutionary mobile app—the first of its kind for the Air Force—that allowed maintainers to document maintenance directly on the flightline where work is done. With a 60% improvement in data documentation, an average time savings of one to three hours per day per user, and ROI of $8,500 per user, per year, BRICE was a massive success.
Product Spotlight: EdgeMX
Monkton took everything learned from BRICE and built an even better end-to-end mobile maintenance solution from the ground up called EdgeMX, which uses the most modern technologies and concepts available. Agile, intuitive, and user-friendly, the EdgeMX mobile app personifies maintenance without constraints providing awareness to everyone from tool shop to command depot.
EdgeMX was architected to run in AWS GovCloud at IL5, supporting the most classified missions and environments, and is NSA NIAP compliant. What’s more, EdgeMX is built for the future and informs artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to make ever-evolving capability decisions.
Anywhere Your Mission Takes You
The app works online, locally, whether you are sitting next to a 5G tower CONUS or in a contested environment. With Amazon Web Service’s Snow series of Edge Computing devices, EdgeMX can be deployed anywhere—on a base with no cell coverage, 200 feet underwater, or on a carrier in the middle of the ocean. In the case of interrupted connectivity, the Edge server collects data and transfers it back to the primary cloud when connectivity is reestablished.
Dynamic Questionnaires for Rapid Decision Making
Challenge: Collect data from front-line COVID-19 deployers to inform rapid decision making
Solution: A trio of Edge-based dynamic questionnaires to monitor the status of forward deployers and what they needed
Amid the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, when everything was a question, United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) needed answers. Asking basic questions wasn’t enough for General O'Shaughnessy to make rapid decisions. He needed Monkton to develop dynamic, Edge-based questionnaires to provide situational awareness on the ever-changing landscape of forward deployers.
Working under the MATTER IDIQ, Monkton developed a trio of disconnected, Edge-based mobile apps that collected personnel availability, location, and disposition data from those reporting to field hospitals, hospital ships, and disaster recovery and mitigation missions.
These solutions captured a holistic logistical picture, supporting real-time data from the front lines and facilitated the identification and prediction of possible COVID hotspots. With newly acquired synergistic data, decision makers could both plan ahead and make expeditious decisions.
Repeatable Accuracy over Spreadsheets
Challenge: Increase time on task in the aerial port and streamline aircraft weight and balance payloads
Solution: An Edge-based mobile app for the iPad allowing different types of aircrafts, configurations, and custom fields to share payloads without the need to email
To advance mission readiness for the nation’s specialized air power, Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) had to ditch spreadsheets. With the help of Monkton, and under the MATTER IDIQ, AFSOC obtained Balanced—an Edge-based solution leveraging Apple iPads.
As a disconnected mobile app, Balanced accelerates turnaround time, streamlines weight and balance payload calculations, and solves critical pain points for airmen. On top of the ability to add various aircrafts, custom configurations, and additional fields, the Balanced app automatically calculates payloads and shares those calculations with appropriate users without the need to email. The result: improved data accuracy, recuperated time between takeoff and landing, and increased air readiness.
The Big Picture
Monkton leads by example. We know there are faster ways to fix things because we build secure solutions from the ground up. It’s not just about providing rapid technology solutions for problems that exist today, but building long-lasting capabilities to fight future wars.
