The Impact of UI: User Centered Design
Implementing a mobile application as a solution can feel daunting at times, but why? For many, it comes down to the myriad chains of communication between end user and developer. Call us crazy, but we believe in hearing the needs of who the app is intended for from day one, and then building. With the end user being the target audience, our approach is to listen to what their issues are and solve them—simple.
Always Design For The End User And Their Needs
One of the easiest ways to get nowhere fast is to assume you know what the problem is instead of asking. Always ask your target audience for guidance on how you can help solve their biggest problems. What is preventing them from completing their task? You wouldn’t suggest Uber to someone who is looking for a music streaming platform. Same goes for design—Identify the end user’s problem first, then design based off of their needs.
Keep It Simple
In an effort to enable mobile engagement, simplicity is essential. Users need an easy to use interface that only displays relevant information essential to the completion of a task. Each time irrelevant information is displayed, the user is put into a compromised situation deterring from the end goal. A great UI requires little to no training and should reduce any unnecessary mental effort which inevitably runs the risk of increasing errors.
Present Clear Information
How information is arranged will dictate the user’s experience. A great UI singles out one command at a time through the use of boxes, spaces, and any additional visual elements to help guide the user toward a desired action. Along with that, users need confirmation that their actions have been successfully executed eliminating confusion surrounding task completion. Never underestimate the power of a check box and the satisfaction one gets from seeing they completed their desired task!
Security First
DevSecOps is a corner stone of every solution that Monkton builds and deploys, meaning we have a repeatable process for repeatable outcomes. Instead of being an afterthought, the DevSecOps process shifts the entire security operations left to be a stepping-stone. Our methodology is Secure by Default, meaning our entire outlook is security first.
Once a secure platform is established, keeping the user interface user centered is paramount to achieve impact. Enterprise is able to close the feedback loop and implement faster by working with the end user to quickly test and deploy. The success of your mobility program is directly tied to how easy your apps are to access and use, and our goal for all our clients to focus on things like providing a great UI experience while we handle all the security and compliance.
